Fun and safety are the focus of the lesson program at Alborak. While the lesson program is geared toward showing on the hunter/jumper and eventing circuits, we encourage our students to participate in a variety of activities with their horses. These activities include dressage, jumping, eventing, trail riding, swimming, and horsemanship games.

10 Week Lesson Programs

Beginner Program (Fri, Sat $450)

Lesson 1

• How to catch a horse
• Grooming before and after riding
• Tacking up
• Care of tack after riding
• Leading with a halter and rope
• Leading a horse tacked up
• Mounting and dismounting safety

Lesson 2

• Review week 1
• Adjusting stirrups
• Basic position, how to hold the reins
• Walk on a lunge line

Lesson 3,4,5

• Continue practice of position on the lunge
• Start trot (posting & two-point)
• Learn posting diagonals

Lesson 6,7,8,9

• Continue with lunge
• Start steering at the walk

Lesson 10

• Review and practice
• Care of tack

Novice Rider Program (Mon, Fri, Sat $525)

• For riders that are comfortable with everything covered in the Beginner Program.
• Riders will continue to work on & off the lunge at the walk & trot.
• Riding at the canter will be introduced & work over poles and small jumps (max 24”)

Intermediate Rider Program (Mon, Wed, Fri $600)

• For riders interested in improving their skills on the flat & over fences (max 3’)

There will be opportunities for all levels to go to shows & clinics as appropriate.

Instructors

Sandra Donnelly - Level 2 eventing instructor and competitor. Eventing competition experience through to the 4 star level. Member of Canadian Eventing Team at 2007 Pan Am Games and 2008 Olympics. Experienced with bringing along young horses for jumping and eventing.
